What these applicants apparently failed to recognize is that we don’t just want to recruit a great scientist; we want to be certain that our new hire will thrive at our institution. Switch off your phone and attend to the assignment. To get any job done, you need to have an area created just for handling that matter. Long days are gone when you could use the problem with electricity as an excuse for not doing homework. It looks like the story has been passed from generation to generation till you eventually heard it from parents. Nowadays it looks more like a funny homework excuse. Work on the assignment for 45 minutes and takes breaks of 10 minutes, after each interval. In this digital age, we can quickly access vast information, but it comes with the challenge of increased distractions. From getting notifications from your social media accounts to constantly be checking your email, it takes your focus away from your studies. When you forget homework, you probably didn’t do so much of it. Doing too much at the same time will lower your productivity. And thus, you will spend more time on a job and usually that time will be more than you would have needed. Study anytime by loading your notes onto your phone or turning them into digital, on-the-go flashcards. I don’t know how my stance on homework will play out long-term. It is always better to know about these things ahead of time, rather than at the last minute. The single reason you go to school is to learn and prepare for your future; whether you will someday have a career, manage a home, or both, you will need to take responsibility. Perhaps such omissions are a result of generic, open-ended job advertisements. Because what we are doing is not normal and I get that. The first year her teacher was great and completely understanding. Seriously, there’s no need to lie to your teacher about the homework you didn’t do using awkward hw excuses. If you really experienced certain emergencies, it is better to tell the truth and if you didn’t exceed the limit of excuses yet, the odds are high you will be spared, voila. Everyone knows the brain is a tricky thing, â€" it’s grey, squishy and most importantly it hurts when the time is up for studying. Perhaps with so many applications to write, the candidates decide they can’t invest the time to tailor each to the opportunity at hand. A recent posting for a tenure-track junior faculty position in my department attracted more than 200 applications, a frightening number in and of itself. Perhaps more terrifying, however, was that fewer than 5% of these candidates made any effort whatsoever to communicate why they wanted to join our department’s faculty in particular.
